Kovalam is well-connected to the rest of India and major world cities via Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, located about 10km away. Plan to reach the airport at least three hours before an international flight, or an hour prior to your domestic flight.
Thiruvananthapuram Central station, about 15km away, is the major railhead that lies closest to Kovalam, and offers excellent connections by train to major cities across India. Plan to reach the station at least thirty minutes prior to your train’s scheduled departure time.
Private bus services as well as those run by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) offer excellent connections to nearby Thiruvananthapuram, as well as other cities in the state. Thiruvananthapuram offers buses to South Indian cities like Bangalore, Madurai, Nagercoil and Chennai.
Thiruvananthapuram, close to Kovalam, is connected to south-west India via National Highway 47, and to other parts of the state of Kerala via state highways. Kovalam is less than a half-hour drive from Thiruvananthapuram. Road conditions on these roads differ depending on time of year.
